A lot of people searching for a workbench plans are in a situation where they are wondering if it’s better to buy the DIY workbench plans/kit for about $95 (that’s the cost at my local store) which includes everything you need to put together a workbench for your workshop. Although the complete package seems nice, I wondered if there was any benefit in buying the workbench plans kit rather than finding my own workbench plans and doing everything myself. So I decided to break down the pros and cons of buying a workbench kit or going for the workbench plans and doing it yourself.

•  Cost – I calculated the price for the workbench kit vs a workbench plans and to my surprise, it was only a $30 difference saving if I decided to go with the workbench plans instead of buying the kit.
• Workbench Designs – The biggest downfall for buying a workbench kit is the design. Since the workbench design might not be what you are looking for. This was the case for me. I did not like any of the workbench kits available. At this point, rather then getting the workbench kit, I had to go and find a workbench plans.
